Gov. Parkinson, Sen. Brownback and Congressman Moore all supporting a federal RES

Thank you, Gov. Parkinson, Sen. Brownback and Congressman Moore, for supporting a federal Renewable Electricity Standard (RES). Rural economic development in the 21st century depends on Congress passing a strong RES of 25% by 2025. RES legislation will also bring $2 billion in investment to our state, creating an additional 11,000 – 12,000 jobs, meaning prosperity on The Plains. Moreover, an RES will result in strengthened national security and energy independence. Kansans are willing to pay a little more, if it means independence and job growth in our region. The real cost here is what will happen to our energy policies if we remain beholden to areas of the world hostile to our interests.
